This event will explore multiple aspects of Indo-Persian martial arts, strength training and physical culture, giving you the opportunity to practice multiple fighting arts and learn about oft forgotten martial practices!
“Strength of the Lion” will feature three instructors. Frank Perrin of Bayt Al-Asad will feature as our main instructor in the martial arts, both armed and unarmed, of Iran and India, with Nate Juarez leading us through an exploration of Indo-Iranian strength training, and John Partika guiding us through an introduction to Indian clubs, one of the more modern derivations of the club swinging practices found in India.
- An introduction to Indian clubs
- Koshti wrestling
- Shield and mace
- Persian mil (heavy club)
- Shena (push up board)
- And much more!
This event will come in two parts! Saturday morning and afternoon, as well as the Sunday morning session, will be devoted to the weapons and practices above, but on Sunday afternoon Frank Perrin will be offering a 3 to 4 hour masterclass on the katar, the famed punch dagger of India! This session will be a separate event, but comes highly recommended for anyone interested in obscure weapons or experimental archaeology!
Come on out to experience the martial legacy and heritage of Iran and India!
