FAQ

Does it cost anything for my first session?

No, but for insurance reasons you need to sign up for a free trial membership with the HEMA Alliance.

For more information about membership and pricing, see our About page.

Can I arrive late?

Late arrivals are permitted depending on the type of session.

  • For solo sessions, you can arrive at any time.
  • For warm-up/free sparring sessions you can arrive at any time.
  • For group classes, please be on site and wearing your gear by the start time. Usually there is a warmup/sparring session before the group class to allow for flexibility.

If you know that you’ll be arriving late to a group class or one-on-one session, please mention it in Discord.

What do I need to bring?

Workout clothes are highly recommended. Water is required for park locations, but we usually have some spare bottles just in case. Men must obtain groin protection (e.g. “baseball cup”) prior to engaging in contact drill.

For most classes, all other safety gear, weapons, and handouts are provided. Exceptions will be noted in the class description.

What is your safety policy?

We adhere to the HEMA Alliance safety policy. Additional safety considerations will be explained in person.

Are children allowed?

We are not currently accepting children. While HEMA can be a safe activity for minors, it requires facilities and equipment that we do not currently offer.

Feel free to ask in our Discord forum for recommendations for child-friendly HEMA programs.
