Scholars of Alcala offers a complete training program for the Meyer’s Staff in San Diego. Published in 1570, Joachim Meyer‘s book provides a comprehensive system of fencing that covers a wide variety of weapons including the half-staff. This massive staff is about 7 1/2 feet long, or roughly half the length of a pike.
Known as the quarter-staff to the English, this is both a weapon in its own right and a teaching tool for other polearms such as the spear, partisan, halberd, and pike.
